Philosophy

The philosophy at Kinder Chicks Preschool and Kindergarten is to nurture the whole child through the program. As a developmental program, we feel that each child grows, develops and matures at their own rate. We feel it is important to build a child's self-esteem by being sensitive to each child and treating them as an individual. We will utilize fun and exciting Montessori as well as preschool methods to give hands-on learning experience to each child. In this manner a child can grasp a concept and also be stimulated through the victory of conquering the concept.

Basic Services

Kinder Chicks Preschool and Kindergarten accepts children 18 months to 6 years of age. Our school uses a large variety of concrete learning material that is relevant to a child's life experience. We provide experiences that meet the children's needs and stimulate learning in all developmental areas: cognitive, physical, social and emotional.

Cognitive development in young children involves understanding of identities, cause and effect, symbolic function, ability to classify and recognize. Through logical investigation a child is able to enhance his/her cognitive development. Our program offers activities in problem solving, tracing letters, learning sounds, reading, numbers, sorting, recognition of-color, weight, space and size. Engaging in these' activities stir the young child's curiosity and stimulate them to further explore their environment.

Our program provides children with activities that help develop their gross and fine motor skills and gain valuable eye-hand coordination. In our program, children will be engaged in activities such as writing, drawing, coloring, pouring, buttoning, painting, jumping and running (outside. play). The gross motor skills developed during early childhood are the basics for sports, dancing and other activities that begin-during middle childhood and may continue for a life time. Gains in tine motor skills allow young children to take more responsibility for their personal care.

Children will be engaged in activities involving music, story time and social interaction with peers. Through these activities, children are able to express themselves and their thoughts in ways that are not always possible in words. Children will also be able to recognize their own abilities and achievements. Henceforth, enhancing the child's social and emotional development. In our program, children will assist each other to develop the ability to recognize similarities as well as differences in their peers. As children learn to respect these differences they observe in their peers, they learn valuable skills needed to form unique friendships as they grow. These skills help children appreciate diversity and respect all people.

Children's natural curiosity about their environment will provide the motivation for exploration and discovery. The mastery comes through repetition which will help develop the child's selfesteem and positive attitude toward the learning process. Our program at Kinder Chicks Preschool and Kindergarten combines the Montessori and Preschool methods to offer a safe and a loving environment to nurture the whole child.

Nutrition

Each child will be provided with a midmorning snack and a mid-afternoon snack, which include milk, juices, fruits, vegetables, crackers, cheese, etc. Hot lunch will be served daily, which will be prepared in the facility. We celebrate birthdays during snack time. If you wish to celebrate a birthday please inform the teacher and/or the director in advance to clear the date and for approval of the food to be served. Be sure to inform us of any food allergies for your child.

We require that each child have a complete change of clothing, blanket and a cot sheet. The change of clothes should be placed in a zip Jock bag with their name to be kept in their cubby. For those children who are being potty trained, make sure he/she has enough diapers/pull-ups and baby wipes with' their names.
